Textile Artist’s Recipe…
I am really looking forward to the arrival of Isobel Hall, who is coming to teach Paper & Fabric for Stitch for me, at The Design Suite,in Tockwith, York http://bit.ly/wGDRJU I have a classroom full of eagar students booked on the course, waiting in anticipation, to learn something completely different ! Then as I start to prepare for the day ahead - which is next week by the way (the 14th of March 2012), I start looking at the list of requirement( as you do) and find to my surprise a very long list – 16 items to be precise. Some you might expect to see on an Art based workshop list, but others I would say quite unusual, one even I ( after years of studying Textile Art), have never seen or heard of before. What is Gloss Mode Podge, I ask myself ?? The list starts Paint Brushes, plastic pots & other every day items, you might expect to find, then goes on to Kozo Paper, Encaustic Wax, Crash Fabric, Gesso & the strangest sounding one of all Gloss Mod Podge ! Sounds splodgy, shiny, messy, oh how I love to get stuck in, up to your elbows, in tactile ingredients !I am now eagerly waiting to see how all these things, mixed together will make something quite beauitiful. as we can see from this picture
How to make some of these items featured, can be found by viewing Isobel’s book http://amzn.to/xdoMqK sold on Amazon or look out for our next Isobel Hall workshop at www.designsuite.org.uk to try out the recipe yourself , for a day of textile pleasure !
